Hunter Turns One

On Sunday we celebrated Hunter's first birthday! I can't believe how fast a year can go and how quickly they grow up. We kept things pretty low key, it is sort becoming a family tradition to have a small family birthday for the first year (don't ask me why, that is just how it is working out). Anyway after church we came home and had dinner, then we had cupcakes (Hunter got his own with a candle in it). Anyway after a very messy treat, we opened gifts and played with the toys for a while. Then we took Hunter outside to show him his "Big" gift. An outdoor slide/rock wall and a little wading pool. It is so nice here now and it stays light until about 8:00, so we spent the rest of the evening playing outside on the new toys.
It was a great Birthday and I just can't believe our little guy is so grown up!

Gymnastics Olympics

Ella's Gymnastics had a Spring Olympics so all the parents could come and see what the kids have been learning over the year. We were lucky enough that this event fell on Easter weekend, so most of my family was here to support Ella on her big day!
I was really proud of Ella because she has been working very hard on her front roll (something that was difficult for her) and practicing at home almost every day. Well her work paid off and she has mastered the front roll.

Happy Easter

We had a wonderful Easter this year and we got to celebrate it for a whole month! (Spring is a little more exciting now because it means the end of snow). So we have been doing lots of outdoor activities and having fun with family!
These pictures were actually taken during our trip to L.A., but I decided to save them for the Eater post. It was fun to be able to do this activity with lots of cousins because Ella is still at the point where she doesn't really get these concepts (Santa, Halloween...) and so it is nice that she has other kids that can help her.
The kids had a great time decorating eggs and spending time with each other.
After the eggs were decorated they got to hunt for them in the back yard and then they got to trade their eggs for special treats and prizes.

This is Easter morning and when Ella woke up she started crying that the Eater Bunny had not come (she did not realize that she had to look for her basket).
This is Ella finding her basket, she just realized that it was in the laundry basket and thought that it was really funny.
She was really excited to see the goodies in her basket and was so happy that the Easter Bunny came this year.
Hunter got a toy from the Easter Bunny as well and he was very excited to find out it was his own remote control car.
All in all it was a good morning and I think Ella enjoyed the whole celebration.

These next pictures are just the kids dressed in their new Easter outfits before church. I had fun dressing them up, but I don't think they had as much fun (and they did not enjoy having their pictures taken)!

After church we all went up to my parents new house and had a really nice dinner with the whole family. Later that night we had a egg hunt for the boys and for Ella. It was a great weekend and a great Easter!

Walking, Walking

On March 22, 2009 Hunter took his first real steps! I say real because although he had taken a step here and there, this was the real thing. At least 9 steps in a row, and since then he has been a walking fool. He still falls a lot and when I put shoes on him he can't walk at all, but for the most part he is on his way. He is much happier now that he can move around which makes me happier.

Sneak Preview

For anyone who is interested, Ella will be performing in her first dance recital on May 30th. Although I don't expect anyone to make a special trip for this, I do want everyone to know that they are invited and Ella would love to family and friends present for this. For those who can't be here, don't worry, there will plenty of pictures!
